An oversized t-shirt should look relaxed on purpose: shoulder seams a few centimetres below your shoulder, sleeves past the mid-bicep and a hem around your hip. Too big and it looks borrowed; too small and it's just a regular tee.
The four fit checkpoints
- Shoulder seam: 3–6cm below your natural shoulder. This "drop" is what makes a tee oversized.
- Chest: roughly 10–20cm wider than your chest measurement, so it hangs without pulling.
- Sleeves: past the middle of your upper arm, sometimes to the elbow.
- Length: between your hip bone and the top of your thigh. Longer starts to look like a dress.
Should you size up for an oversized look?
